Tutorials in PlanningForce
Overview
Three incremental tutorials will allow you to discover the PlanningForce tools and features interactively.
These tutorials are available from the Welcome Startup screen. Once you click on a tutorial, it opens both a PDF file with the tutorial and, in PlanningForce, the example file that illustrates the explanations in the tutorial.

Tutorial 1
The purpose of Tutorial 1 is to let you discover the main concepts, terms and workflows that will allow you, in a second phase, to create your own First Simulation.
You will discover:
- What a plan and a simulation are
- What a project is
- What resources are
- How to launch the scheduling process
- How the results are displayed
- How to make changes
- How to compare simulations
Tutorial 2
In this second tutorial, we have enriched data (projects and resources) to obtain a first realistic plan.
You will discover:
- What a calendar is and how to use it
- What a coefficient is and how to use it
- What a skill is and how to use it
- How to include / reject / impose resources
- How to exploit useful tools
- How to define constraints and goals
- How to analyze results
- How to optimize your planning
- How to select the current plan
Tutorial 3
In the third tutorial, we have continued to enrich data (projects and resources) and we have encoded successive progress statuses and new plans to obtain a first Project Life Cycle.
You will discover:
- How to use costs and incomes and determine cash-flows
- How to use advanced coefficients
- What role and skill levels are and how to use them
- How to impose a resource exclusively to a task
- What progress status is
- What successive plans are
- What plan tracker is
- What portfolio progress is
Guidelines in PlanningForce
Follow the guidelines to learn the sequence of the encodings to schedule your first projects.
It's an easy way to do things in the right order and use in a few minutes some of the most powerful features of PlanningForce.
Example files and Templates in PlanningForce
On the Welcome screen, click on the ‘Open example file’ tab and select one of the example files which present functionalities in an incremental way.
These files also contain project templates and can be used as the basis for your own files. As they are protected, you can reopen them as many times as you wish, always in their initial state.
Help section and topics in PlanningForce
You can access a complete and detailed help section from the main menu.
However, you can directly access a contextual topic by clicking on the 'Help' icon which appears in most of the sub-sections of a screen.
In the following screen, clicking on the Task Manager help icon will open the Help content right to the desired section. It allows you to use the Help content on the spot, as the question ariises.
